The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Lubuuka David, recently presided over a significant handover ceremony at the district headquarters, where four sets of ICT equipment were officially distributed to four newly established town councils. The equipment-which included computers, printers, and UPS units—was handed over to the Acting Town Clerks of Lumino-Majanji, Tiira, Namungodi, and Masafu Town Councils.

This valuable equipment was received from the Ministry of Local Government as a strategic effort to enhance the operational capacity of these town councils. With these ICT tools, the councils are better positioned to support revenue mobilization efforts and streamline their day-to-day administrative functions. This initiative directly supports the district’s vision of bringing services closer to the people through effective local governance.

Addressing the recipients at the function, CAO Lubuuka emphasized the importance of proper care and maintenance of the equipment. He cautioned the Town Clerks to ensure vigilant safety measures and good management practices, noting that ICT assets often face issues stemming from poor handling and neglect.

These four town councils are among the newest in the district, created to decentralize services and foster closer connection with residents. With the support of the Ministry and careful stewardship by the councils, the newly equipped offices are expected to deliver improved services that meet the growing needs of their communities.
